Remove before swimming — chlorine in pools and salt in the ocean can dull and pit silver and gold over time.

Put jewellery on last — perfume, hairspray, and moisturiser should be fully dry before your piece goes on.

Take off during exercise — sweat and impact can loosen stone settings and scratch polished surfaces.

Avoid sleeping in your jewellery — chains can stress and kink, and prong settings can catch on fabric.

Sterling silver: wipe gently with a soft lint-free cloth after wearing to remove oils. For tarnish, use a small amount of mild dish soap in warm water, soft toothbrush, rinse well, pat dry.

Gold pieces: clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Rinse and dry thoroughly — moisture trapped behind settings can cause discolouration.

Set stones: avoid ultrasonic cleaners unless advised — some stones (opals, emeralds, pearls) are heat and vibration sensitive.

Diamonds: a few drops of glass cleaner on a soft brush brings the sparkle back. Rinse and dry well.

Store pieces separately — harder stones (diamonds) will scratch softer metals and gems if stored together.

Use the pouch or box your piece came in. A soft-lined surface prevents scratching and slows tarnish on silver.

Anti-tarnish strips in your jewellery box will keep silver bright for longer — available from most jewellery suppliers.

Avoid humidity — bathrooms are not ideal storage spots. A cool, dry drawer is best.

We recommend having your Cuncè piece professionally polished and checked once a year — stone settings can loosen with normal wear and are best caught early.

If a stone becomes loose or a prong is damaged, stop wearing the piece and have it repaired before the stone is lost.
